In the years leading up to the Trojan War, young Prince Hector of Troy and young Princess Andromache of Thebes attempt to find their political footing amidst rising turmoil as Thracian invaders and the warlords of Mycenae and Sparta threaten the balance of power and their way of life.
YOUNG GODS is a historical dramatic television series set in ancient Greece in the years leading up to the great Trojan War. A story of heroes and warlords, great horseman and swordsman, it brings to life the cradle of modern civilization as a new guard of young warrior aristocrats comes into their own as leaders.
Between the kings to the south, the hostiles to the north and the megalopolis of Troy across the Aegean Sea, Thebes remains a peaceful, independent kingdom. Its ruler, King Eetion, father of Andromache, is well aware that the rumor of war between Mycenae and Troy has everyone on edge. Both super powers are equipped with strong naval fleets and massive ground armies that could easily conquer the smaller kingdoms and city states. Messy alliances formed by provincial leaders through fear or by intimidation will ultimately lead to backroom betrayals.
This work is not a retelling of the traditional story of Homer’s Illiad. Rather, it opens up the points of view of the other kingdoms and cultures in this classic period when the Greeks introduced written language, art, urbanization and innovative weaponry to the world. It is filmed as a great adventure in a bygone time when the clash of two great powers is inevitable and all of the players must choose a side.
